Frequently Asked Questions

If my periods stop, and I am not pregnant, does it mean there is something wrong?
A medical checkup should be done to rule out any serious problems, but in most cases the finding is that amenorrhea (no period) does not indicate a serious underlying disorder.  Although, lack of periods indicate that there are hormonal imbalances or insufficiencies. We prescribe Chinese herbal formulas to restore the normal cycle after a consultation to determine the nature of the imbalance.
Can Chinese herbs treat spotting between periods?
Once again, a medical checkup should be done to rule out any serious problems. Dysfunctional uterine bleeding (DUB) is abnormal menstrual bleeding that occurs when hormonal irregularities cause abnormalities of the menstrual cycle. Chinese herbal formulas that help restore hormonal balance are found to be effective in many cases.
How does Chinese medicine treat mastitis?
The breast is a modified sweat gland with multiple secretory acini that drain into lactiferous ducts. Each of the lobule secretory ducts converge to form one ampulla, which traverses the nipple to open at the apex which can become blocked, become inflamed or infected, resulting in abscess formation.
Postpartum mastitis is a localized cellulitis caused by bacterial invasion through an irritated or fissured nipple. It typically occurs after the second postpartum week and is precipitated by milk stasis.
A Chinese herbal formula that contains herbs that invigorate milk flow and also has antibacterial properties can effectively treat the problem.
Breast Lumps or Nodules

Breast masses can be broadly classified as benign or malignant.
Whilst some breast lumps require medical attention, and should be examined by a doctor, most are considered benign or harmless. We make up Chinese herbal formulas to treat benign breast lumps. We think it is important to clear breast lumps as soon as possible to avoid long term problems.
Dysmenorrhea or Painful Periods
Early treatment with Chinese herbs is important when treating painful periods. Menstrual periods that are accompanied by dull, aching pain or sharp, intermittent pain, in the lower abdomen are often only treated with painkillers. We design Chinese herbal formula that treat the cause, not just the symptoms.
